Border Patrol agents are concerned for their own health.
The number of detainees who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of Texas has increased by 900 percent in the first two weeks of July compared to the previous 14 months. This sector is one of the main destinations for migrants crossing the border.
There are more than 2,000 apprehensions each day, accounting for 60 percent of confirmed positive detainees in Border Patrol custody.
Border Patrol agents are seeking help to protect themselves from the virus. The Sector Chief spoke about COVID cases among agents and said he’s had more than 40 of his agents test positive this fiscal year.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the agents of the Border Patrol and their families to be kept safe from exposure to infected migrants.
- For U.S. officials interacting with and processing the ever-increasing influx of undocumented migrants.
- For protection for unaccompanied minors from trafficking operations.
